Through Maurice Sendak's book Where the Wild Things Are, we have explored the ways Vigotsky's theory is represented in literature. We invite you to watch a reading of the book in the YouTube video below. Note that, while each image takes up the whole screen in the video, the size of the images in the book actually changes as the story progresses. This is important to remember when listening to the VoiceThread analysis of the story.
Now, we ask you to view an examination of Where the Wild Things Are. We used VoiceThread for this analysis because it offers the option of commenting on each page in a variety of ways including text and voice recording. This is an opportunity to apply Vygotsky's theory by breaking down the analysis into steps and allowing you to ask questions about concepts that require further clarification. Anyone who feels they are capable of answering is welcome to do so.
